Child Education: The Key To An Early Start In Life.

When I was younger, my father had several proverbs he enjoyed dishing out. One of these was “instead of giving a man a fish, it is best to teach him how to fish.” He always said this whenever I wanted him to do my difficult assignments for me, particularly Maths. He would then explain the difficult question repeatedly, and in my child-like mind, it was not funny. I did not understand what that had to do with my assignments. I wanted to get full marks and avoid cane. Furthermore, I thought it was rather stressful to make a man learn how to fish instead of just giving him the fish. He was hungry for Christ’s sake!

The Payoff.
It took several years to understand what he meant and by the time I did, I appreciated him for teaching me early instead of always doing those things for me. I remembered this analogy when I wanted to write this article.
Child education is a necessity.
Education is every child’s birthright. Sadly, however, only some have access to it. The majority who do not, grow up missing out on opportunities that would have given them an edge in life.
Some would be quick to say getting a good education is not synonymous to success. It is necessary, however, and has always been important, whether formal or informal, in today’s age. Formal education gives room for informal education, lends an edge to one’s craft and acts as a stepping stone to both enlightenment and societal progress.
When you educate a child (teaching him how to fish) instead of giving him the little things he asks for when he is younger (giving him a fish a day), you do a world of good for both that child and the society.
Today’s Society: What we think children want versus What they need.
In all my years, I am yet to meet the child who does not desire education no matter how stubborn they might seem. Our society has an abundance of children who really want to get a good education, and who rightfully deserve to. Unfortunately, we only remember them during festive periods when we take foodstuff, toys, and toiletries to them. We ought to also remember them at the start of academic sessions and help provide school fees, books, crucial examination forms (eg W.A.E.C., J.A.M.B.), and uniforms for them.
So many families in Nigeria and other developing countries around the world may find it easy to provide food, but financing their children’s education is a difficulty. Knowing that someone else wants to help with that goes a long way to making life better for them.
Helping Children Access Quality Education in Nigeria.
Thus to make excellent education available to as many children as possible, Niniola Apata created the Adopt a Child’s Education and welcomes everyone within and outside Nigeria to help put a child in school. You honestly do not have to be as wealthy as Dangote to do this. Simply be willing and ready to provide help.
Educating a child instead of only remembering him/her when Christmas and Children’s Day comes around would go a long way both to securing that child’s future and securing the future of the nation.
